Daniel Lugo was sentenced to death for his involvement in the kidnap and murder of Frank Griga and Krisztina Furton, the owners of a successful Sun Gym in Miami in 1995. However, his sentence was commuted to life in prison without the possibility of parole after the Florida Supreme Court declared the state's death penalty statute unconstitutional in 2016. As of 2021, Lugo remains in prison, serving a life sentence.
